Giving people the time and space to do the things that matter to them
Emily knows what clothes she wants to take for a trip away, and can sort them for herself. Due to mobility needs relating to her cerebral palsy this may not be a very tidy process. Her PA Jess recognises that her role here is tidying up when Emily has finished. This is more supportive, rather than making those choices for Emily. Supporting people with neurological conditions is unique. It might feel challenging at times, as neurological conditions can have really varying effects. It’s about doing things the way the person you support likes them. Things don't have to be done perfectly, quickly or in the way you may do at home.
