Supporting people to make their routines work

...

Finding useful and fun approaches to support healthy daily routines

Heather's PA Adam is very inventive during his calls with her. He has been trying out ways of reminding Heather to do self-care routines. Adam has learnt how the combo of Heather's cerebral palsy, epilepsy, ADHD and autism can affect her daily needs. For example, she often forgets to eat or drink enough. This can make her feel tired and slow down her daily progress with her roles. Adam knows her well enough now to use humour appropriately - and this also makes their days a little bit more fun.

As you watch, ask yourself...

  • Why do you think humour works for Adam and Heather? Does it work for everyone?

  • Thinking of a person you support - what alternative approach might help them with something they often find hard?
