Finding interesting ways to do rehabilitation can get people really engaged
Heather's PA Adam has learnt a lot about Heather in the four months they have worked together. He supports her to navigate her involvement in disability activism. Her ADHD and autism mean she can bite off more than she chew, and feel overwhelmed by too many tasks. However Heather doesn't like to sit still and relax. She likes to feel busy. So Adam encourages Heather to do physical creative activities to de-stress like watercolour painting or playing with Lego. The added bonus is that this is also physiotherapy for her hands. Heather can't stand to do repetitive exercises. But building Lego sets is the ideal way to do what she needs to reduce her hand pain and stiffness.
